Keynote Speaker: Thomas Franklin

Thomas E. Franklin has been a photojournalist and newspaper photographer for over 20 years and has won numerous awards for his photography. A nationally recognized leader in his field, his work has been widely published and exhibited.

Best known for his iconic image of three firemen raising the U.S. flag above the rubble of the World Trade Center on September 11th 2001, Franklin’s photo is one of the most widely recognized and replicated images in history and is part of the permanent collection of the Library of Congress, and Life Magazine has listed it as one of the “100 Photographs That Changed the World.”

He has also appeared on television and radio many times to discuss his work, including; The Today Show, Good Morning America, and Oprah. Based in Northern New Jersey, Franklin has been a staff photographer at The Record, (Bergen County, NJ) since 1993. Presently, he produces a weekly photo-column called Picture This, featuring colorful aspects of life in North Jersey.
